I found a goldmine! No, I’m not in California or Alaska. I found it in Psalm 91! After panning for the gold in this psalm for ten days, I extracted three nuggets that are so rich that my life has been powerfully impacted. Now that I know the truths in these verses, I can live more victoriously than ever and so can you. An unusual phenomena about finding nuggets of gold in the scripture is that when you tell others about the mine you have discovered, it is never depleted. There is plenty for everyone. Get your pan and see what you can find for yourself! Here’s what I’ve found in Psalm 91: 9-13.
It will take at least three articles to describe the nuggets I have found, but here’s the first one: We don’t have to be sick!
Psalm 91: 9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Did I read that correctly? The Lord is my refuge, the One I run to for safety and peace. Psalm 91:9 states that because you have given the Lord first place in your life, and you have made Him your habitation, nothing evil is going to touch you and the plague (sickness) isn’t going to come near you. That is an amazing truth! It is stated as a fact in God’s word. It is simply the way things are in His Kingdom. I tripped over this nugget for a long time because we often have evil and sickness in our lives. I found out that evil and sickness are not God’s plan for us! That makes all the difference in the world. According to this verse, (read it again, if you didn’t see it) the plan of God is for us to be free from evil and sickness. If it isn’t His plan for us, we don’t have to have it!
Why are we having evil and sickness in our lives if it is not His plan for us? Perhaps in the past you thought you didn’t qualify or didn’t deserve a life free from evil and sickness. The truth is you do qualify because you made the decision to put God first in your life. If you have made Him your habitation, as verse 9 says, you qualify for what comes next. No evil shall befall you, neither shall any plague come nigh your dwelling. If we are not experiencing that, it may be only because we don’t fully believe it and rest in it yet. We could be embracing a lie that we don’t deserve it or qualify. I know it sounds impossible; it sounds too good to be true. The Word of God says it plainly here, so what we want to do is embrace this nugget, this truth, hold it closely to our heart, believe and receive it. You don’t have to be sick!
I hope you have gotten something you can think about through reading this. Please join the discussion. I know there can be some disagreement among Christians in thinking like this, and you are welcome to respectfully disagree in love. I am wide open to greater understanding of the truth in God’s Word. I think we can so easily miss what is there by our own habitual way of thinking. He doesn’t mind our questions, and He has all of the answers.
