Life and Death and What You Can Do About It

View More:

Proverbs 18:21 says,

“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.”

Today, in Steve Backlund’s message, he expresses profoundly,

“The greater truth is that life is in the power of the tongue.”

Let’s just think about that.

Life is in the power of the tongue.

That’s my “featured thought” for today. As we meditate on those words, we’re going to understand it and believe it. It’s the belief that God is after! It’s our responsibility and delight to choose that thought over contrary negative thoughts that beg us to focus on what appears to be a dead hopeless reality. Truth is what God says, and He says,

“Life is in the power of the tongue.”

If God says

“Life is in the power of the tongue,”

Life is in the power of the tongue!

Let’s speak life into every situation today.

Can you get a picture of  timelapse photography where a seedling becomes a bud and then each petal opens up until the beautiful flower is unfolded. That is the way your situations can change today. As you speak life into what appears to be a problem or an unresolved issue, it will change into something beautiful.

Jesus’ friend, Lazarus had been dead for four days. He had been embalmed and wrapped in grave clothes. When Jesus said, “Lazarus, come forth,” life came back into him, and God was glorified.

What is the best thing that could happen today for each of your loved ones? Think about that. Speak life over each one of them. Simply say, “I speak the life of God over _______today.” You can name any and everything that your heart is concerned about today.

Unspeakable joy will bubble up in your life today!

If you want to, sign up for the Negativity Fast and Positivity Feast by clicking here. You’ll get inspiring emails and a short youtube message every day. It’s free, and there are other resources available! Learn more about it here.

Have an incredible day thinking right! Your life is being transformed into God’s best for you! Just think about what that looks like!

Four Thoughts to Feast On Today

View More:

If you don’t do anything else during this negativity fast, I recommend that you spend some time thinking these four thoughts. They are four of my favorites! They were inspired by the teachings of Steve and Wendy Backlund, but after spending over 30 days with a thought, you get to call it your own.

I encourage you to let each one roll over and over in your mind until it becomes a deeply held belief. As you believe, you will see astounding changes in your life and circumstances. Think and speak these four thoughts at every opportunity and see how marvelous your days become! Don’t let anyone talk you out of the blessings God wants to give you. Hold tightly to the assurance that He wants to make you a blessing to others.

There is always a solution.

God gives me great ideas. (You can say whatever kind of ideas you need. God gives me great ideas for losing weight or building relationships.)

God always answers my prayers.

Everything is going to work out for my good.

I know if you make these thoughts a part of you, you will see amazing results right away. Let me know!

Have an incredible day!

Precious Promises

View More: are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:4

He has given us precious promises that open the door to His divine nature. We are invited in to take part in Who He is. This is even more wonderful when we realize that these precious promises also allow us to escape the negative effects of the corruption that is in the world. We can live above the world partaking of all that God has to offer: love, joy, peace, a sound mind, health, prosperity. We can experience His Divine Presence, no matter what is going on in the world around us.

We access all of this through renewing our mind to the “precious promises.”

Here are 3 of my favorites:

If you abide in me, and My word abides in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

Whatsoever things you desire, when you pray, believe you receive them, and you shall have them. Mark 11:24

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Our mind is renewed to these precious promises when we saturate our minds with them. It is best done through repetition several times throughout the day. As we saturate our mind with these promises, they come alive for us and produce His divine nature in us. What could be more exciting than that!

Do you have a favorite promise? Feel free to share.

As we continue the Negativity Fast & Positivity Feast, continue to flood your mind each day with God’s thoughts. You can pray this simple prayer:

Dear God, please flood my mind with your thoughts today. In Jesus name, Amen.

Enjoy your day partaking of His divine nature.

Believing Lies, Recognizing Truth

View More:

We are where we are in life right now because of our beliefs.

  1.  It is possible that we are believing lies in some or all areas of our lives. This has kept us from fulfilling the perfect will of God in our lives.
  2.  A lie is defined as anything contrary to what God says or believes about us.
  3. We can ask God to show us the lies we have been believing.
  4. We can ask God to show us what we should believe about any given circumstance.
  5. We can tell our minds what to believe.  Examples: “Sharon, you are successful. Sharon, you are a woman of faith and prayer. Sharon, God can use you to bless others.” And after your mind gets used to the idea (gets renewed) you will believe it!

Two tests that we can use to determine if a belief is God’s truth for us:

  • Does it bring hope?
  • Is it something God would say to you?  Would He tell you that you are a failure? Would He tell you that you will never get out of this mess? Would He tell you it is too late for your dreams to come true? With this test we can easily identify lies we have been believing.

Steve Backlund, the sponsor of our Negativity Fast & Positivity Feast, says, “Let’s just laugh at that.” Whenever we hear a thought that is contrary to what God would say to us, then, “Let’s just laugh at that.” You know it’s not a truth from God if it doesn’t give you hope.

When we hear a thought that gives us hope, encourages us and agrees with God’s word, we can say, “Let’s just think about that.” We will have two kinds of thoughts vying for our attention today: Negative thoughts and positive thoughts. Let’s choose the ones we want to think about and laugh at the other ones.

Our thoughts are the bricks by which our beliefs are built. Our beliefs are the foundation on which our whole life stands.

Renewing My Mind Today

View More:

Rockford Jordan Photography

I  want my life to change for the better so I am changing what I think. I am renewing my mind.

These are the things I want:

To please God.

For our family to continue to increase financially.

To experience His Presence in greater magnitude.

To be healthy and full of energy.

For God to use me to help and encourage others.

For all of my relationships to be strengthened so that I can bring out the best in others and make their lives better.

So I renew my mind with these thoughts:

God is continually showing me ways to walk with Him throughout each day.

God is pleased with me not because of what I do, but because He loves me.

He is showing me more and more truth.

I surrender my life to God daily.

He is opening up exciting opportunities for me.

He’s giving me great ideas.

I have more and more energy every day.

I enjoy every day to the fullest.

God’s peace, joy, and Presence surround me every day.

I am continually aware of the favor and blessings of God every day.

I am happier than I’ve ever been.

I delight in helping others to be happy and prosperous.

As we continue the Negativity Fast and Positivity Feast, continue to capture negative thoughts. Don’t accept them any more. Why don’t you borrow one or two of my thoughts above and choose to think them today? As we habitually think the right thoughts, they become beliefs, and they will be mirrored in our lives. Get excited! We are being transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Please feel free to share some of your favorite thoughts! Have a wonderful day! God is with you!

Good, Acceptable, and Perfect

Good, Acceptable, and Perfect” is part 5 in the series, “You Can Change Your Life in 40 Days.”

Our thoughts are the bricks by which our beliefs are built. Our beliefs are the foundation on which our whole life stands.

Change your thoughts, and you change your life.

If I had but one prayer to be answered tonight, I would pray that all of my family and friends would know the truth above and walk in it fully as God leads them. I pray that they would truly know that He has good planned for their lives. In fact He is incredibly able to take all of our mistakes, shortcomings, faults, even our sins and use them for our good.

After all, when the world was without form and void, He created it and gave it life.

If you look at the life of Joseph, everything that happened to him turned out for his good. Even the pride and bragging which put him in a pit was the catalyst that took him to Egypt to later become the savior of his family.

In order to change our life from what it is now to what it can be, God asks us one thing: To renew our mind.

Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or ]shifting shadow. James 1:17 NASB

There is no question that God wants good for us.

There is no question that we have a part to play in what we receive in our lives. When we renew our mind to His good and acceptable and perfect will, our life changes. We put ourselves in position for all of the forces of heaven to bring these good things into our lives. Our beliefs makes the difference in what we receive. It is a law as reliable as the law of gravity. It works for everyone all of the time.

I want to see what God will do with all of the people I know as we renew our minds and let Him turn everything for our good. Can you picture the very best things happening to you and your family today?

The world needs more good, and the world needs to see God changing lives.

We have a part to play. Let’s do it. Let’s think the thoughts that will build the beliefs we want to have so that God can fulfill His perfect will in our lives.

Let’s not stand in His way!

Choose thoughts that will build the life you know He wants for you.

Everything I put my hand to prospers.

I walk in divine health. I pray for others, and they are healed.

God gives me great ideas.

I am closer to God than I have ever been.

The life of God is flowing through me.

I am a blessing to others.

It’s going to be a good day.

As we continue our negativity fast and our positivity feast, be aware of negative thoughts that come to you. Acknowledge that they are negative and let them go on their way. When positive thoughts come, embrace them. Repeat them. Build your belief that good things happen to you.

Have a great day!

You Can’t Say That!

“I am successful in everything I do!”

“You can’t say that!”

“Why not?”

“Because it isn’t true!”

“Who says it isn’t true?”

“Well, uh, I do, and well uh, what have you ever done that makes you successful?”

“God says I am successful, and frankly I value what He thinks of me more than what you say, though I highly value your friendship.”

“God doesn’t lie, why would He say you are successful when clearly you are NOT!”

“If I saw a tree in an orchard, I personally wouldn’t know an apple tree, from a peach, or an orange tree. I just don’t know that much about how they look without the fruit, but someone who knows trees would know  an apple tree from a peach tree by looking even at just the seeds or the leaves. From a seed, God saw me as a fruitful tree. I may not have produced much fruit yet, but He calls me what He knows I am!”

“Well, uh. I guess I see your point.”

The Truth is what God says.

“The truth is what God says, and I’m just repeating what I have read in His Word and heard Him say in my spirit. I’ve got good news for you, too. You are successful, and full of the life of God. He is revealing to you exactly who you are. All you have to do is say what He says you are.”

“So can I say things like this:

I’m successful in everything I do,

I’m happier than I’ve ever been,

Everywhere I go people like me and want to hear what I have to say,

I am a positive influence on everyone I meet,

All my bills are paid on time and I have plenty for everything I need, and

God is blessing me in everything I do?”

Yes, you can! Say it loud and say it strong. Declare what God says you are! If you don’t know what He says you are, you will find it in His Word and in your heart.

“You Can’t Say That!” is Part 3 in a series entitled “You Can Change Your Life in 40 Days.” It is based on Romans 12:2 Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. “You Can Change Your Life in 40 Days” is being written as I take part in the Negativity Fast and Positivity Feast sponsored by Steve and Wendy Backlund of Igniting Hope Ministries. Much of the inspiration for this series came from the teachings of Steve and Wendy which are readily available through their website and on youtube. I hope you will take advantage of all of the wisdom they have gained through their many years of ministry. My life has been changed and enriched by what the Lord has given me through Steve and Wendy.

Not Everything You Think Is True

“You are not going to make it!”

“You are not good at anything.”

“You have failed at that!”

“You are too old.”

“You are too young!”

“No one likes you.”

“You can’t change!”

“Life is hard!”

“God can’t use you.”

“You are going to run out of money.”

I’ve heard these thoughts too. Did you ever stop to think that they might not be true?

Not everything you think is true.

When you think something bad about yourself or others, consider the source. Begin to question the validity of what you are hearing. Is this something God would say to you?

Can you imagine God telling you what a tough day it’s going to be? Would He tell you that no one likes you? Would He list your failures?

The truth is what God says!

If you listen to your heart, you will know what He says. Wouldn’t it sound more like this:

“You can do anything you set your mind to.”

“You are strong in Me!”

“You are someone with unique gifts and talents.”

“You are loved!”

“You are successful!

“You have everything you need.”

“God is with you every step of the way.”

“There is nothing you can’t handle with God’s help.”

“You are a blessing, a help, and an encouragement to others.”

Take some of these thoughts to feast on today. Here’s one of my favorites that Steve Backlund suggested:

There is always a solution.

Before you get out of bed try thinking about one of these truths. Picture what it would look like if you experienced this in your life today.

Remember to identify, question, and fast all negative thoughts.

Choose to think the words God would say to you. Choose a few of your favorites and feast on these words today!

Have a really great day today! The sky is the limit! Just think about that!

Giving Up Negativity for Lent

Lent is the forty days leading up to Easter, the day we celebrate the resurrection of Christ.  For hundreds of years it has been observed as a time of repentance. Many Catholics and others will go to mass and ashes will be placed on their forehead. They will repeat these words:

“Remember, you are dust, and to dust you shall return, repent and believe in the gospel. This is the beginning of Lent.”

Lent is a perfect time to give up negativity. You can read more about what I learned about Lent in 2014 here.

On February 10 this year, I will begin Steve Backlund’s Negativity Fast/Positivity Feast.

To join me simply:

Decide to give up negative thoughts.

We can start by becoming aware of how we are feeling. If we are feeling bad, mad, discouraged, depressed or hopeless, chances are negative thoughts have been swirling around in or just below our consciousness.

Our mission is to capture these thoughts. Shine the light on them, recognizing them for what they are: They are deterrents to our happiness and roadblocks to what God has planned for us.

Becoming aware and being willing to admit that we sometimes take negative thoughts is a good begindare to be happy blogning. As we become aware of the thoughts we have been thinking, we will learn, as God helps us, to replace those negative thoughts with positive beliefs. Our lives will change for the better.

Our thoughts are the bricks by which our beliefs are built. Our beliefs are the foundation on which our whole life stands.

Change your thoughts, and you change your life.

Begin today and let me know how it’s going for you. We’re in this together. We can do it.

Go directly to Igniting Hope Ministries to register if you want to join with Steve and receive his materials. Registration is free.

Have a great day!
