I’m Changing!

I know you’re saying, “Don’t do it! We like you just the way you are!” But, nevertheless I’m changing! It’s because of a truth that has impacted me more than any other in my life other than the salvation provided to me through Jesus. In other words, it is clearly the second most important truth known to man, in my opinion.

What happened to cause me to change?

Four weeks ago on Thursday, I opened up the youtube app on my phone and typed “Steve Backlund” in search. I chose a random youtube video by the Backlunds and began to listen.

Why the Backlunds?

Jay had mentioned that Steve and his wife Wendy had recently spoken at BSSM (Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry) where he attends in Redding, Ca. Wanting to stay in touch with what’s going on in his life, I thought I would listen to Steve’s message.

What happened next?

Within minutes, I did something I never do. I stopped the message, went to “Keep” in my phone, and took notes on what I had just heard. I spent a good part of that day listening as I drove or worked in the house, stopping often to take notes. I have listened to Steve and Wendy almost every day for the past four weeks. I find it difficult to listen while driving only because I will hear something so good, I have to stop and take notes to be sure I don’t lose it.

Why am I so excited about what they have to say?

Because the message that they share all over the world is the same message that has been resounding in my life as long as I can remember. I affectionately call it “my message.” I didn’t know much about this truth as a kid although the seeds of it were sprouting. I was such a happy kid and wanted to do what it took to stay that way. You could say that the message was in me even as a child! As I grew up, I wanted others to be happy and have always wanted to solve other people’s problems. I believe with all of my heart that the answer to changing ourselves into the joyful individuals we were meant to be is found in this truth:

You can be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2)

What you think, you become. (Proverbs 23:7)

How do we live in this truth? How do we live the life of joy God wants us to have?

Think right. (Philippians 4:8)

Make every thought positive. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Why am I so excited?

I am changing! I am changing from being a happy positive person to being a happier more positive person! I am changing into the person God wants me to be. I am learning how to love others better and how to be a better friend, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and whatever else I need to be because I am learning exactly how to change my thinking to conform to His image of me!

What’s next?

I can hardly wait to start Steve and Wendy Backlund’s Negativity Fast/Positivity Feast on February 10. Their ministry, Igniting Hope Ministry sponsors this every year for Lent. It will go from February 10-March 20, forty days. Read about it and register to join us here. During this forty day lent period, I will be blogging exciting truths that I am learning and I will write about the changes I am experiencing. I’d love to hear yours as well!

Here’s a link to the first youtube video that I listened to: Steve and Wendy Backlund, April 19, 2014.

What we believe (habitual thinking) makes all the difference in what we experience on a daily basis. It is the truth that sets us free.

Change with me if you want! It’s sure to be exciting!
